Delhi: It has been five years since Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired from international cricket. But, there has been no decline in his popularity. Even though Dhoni is not seen much on the field anymore, his brand value has increased more than before. Dhoni plays only for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he has been retained by the franchise for IPL 2025 for Rs 4 crore.

Left behind Virat-Sachin, Amitabh-Shahrukh
According to a recent TAM Media Research report, Dhoni has left behind Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar as well as Bollywood veteran stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan in terms of brand endorsements in the first six months of 2024. Dhoni has dealt with 42 brands during this period, which is one more than Amitabh Bachchan and eight more than Shahrukh.
Dhoni has recently become the brand ambassador of Eurogrip Tyres. Apart from this, he is associated with big brands like Gulf Oil, Cleartrip, Mastercard, Citroën, Lay’s, and Garuda Aerospace.
Dhoni is an ‘uncapped player’ in IPL 2025
In 2023, Dhoni left the captaincy of the team after leading CSK to its fifth IPL title. After this, Ruturaj Gaikwad was made the captain, but under his first captaincy, CSK could not reach the playoffs.
Ahead of the 2025 IPL mega auction, Dhoni has been retained as an ‘uncapped player’. Apart from Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Mathisha Pathirana and Shivam Dubey have also been retained by CSK. The team is now preparing to win the sixth title.
