Muhammad Abbas was born on 29 November 2003 in Lahore, Pakistan. He moved to New Zealand after his father left Pakistan. At the age of just 16, he was included in the Talent Pathway program by the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC). Subsequently, Cricket Wellington gave him a domestic contract and his father started working as an assistant coach in Wellington.

Apart from this, he has scored 2 centuries and 6 half -centuries in first class cricket, 1 century in List A and 3 half -centuries in T20.

Talking about his son, Azhar Abbas said, “Whenever we used to get a place, we used to play cricket, whether it is underarm or throwing a ball to each other.” But his son received the call that changed his life. New Zealand head coach Gary Stead chose Muhammad Abbas in the ODI team against Pakistan.

New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 73 runs in the first ODI, and Muhammad Abbas broke the record of Indian all -rounder Krunal Pandya by scoring a half -century in just 24 balls, who scored a half -century in 26 balls against England in 2021.
