Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 eliminator match, Mumbai Indians (Mi) faced one -time title Champions from Gujarat Titans (GT). The match was played on 30 May at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. Mumbai won the toss and decided to bat first.
Five -time champions Mumbai Indians started with a bang. Opener Rohit Sharma played 81 and Johnny Bairstow played a brilliant innings of 47 runs. After this, Suryakumar Yadav added 33 and Tilak Verma added 25 runs.
Captain Hardik Pandya scored 22 runs while remaining unbeaten and Mumbai scored a huge score of 228 runs in the first innings. This is the second highest score in the history of IPL playoffs. Earlier, Kings XI Punjab (now – Punjab Kings) scored 226 runs against Chennai Super Kings in 2014, which Mumbai overtook.
From the Gujarat Titans, the famous Krishna and Sai Kishore took two wickets each, while Mohammad Siraj got a success. Gujarat started to chase a target of 229 runs. Captain Shubman Gill was sent to the pavilion for just 1 run in the very first over of the second innings.
Significantly, the winning team of this match will have to face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2. Punjab had to face defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 1, but they have reached their first IPL final after 9 years.
