The mega auction of IPL 2025 is scheduled to take place on November 24-25 in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia. These days all the franchises are busy preparing for the auction. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals (DC) has taken a big step before the auction. DC has appointed former Indian fast bowler Munaf Patel as its bowling coach. The franchisee shared this news on Tuesday. Munaf was a part of the Indian team that won the World Cup in 2011.
Talking about Munaf Patel’s career, he has represented India in all three formats. He has played 13 Tests, 70 ODIs and three T20 International matches, taking 35, 86 and 4 wickets respectively. He also has immense experience in IPL. He has played for Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions. He took 74 wickets in 63 IPL matches. He played his last IPL match in 2017.
Let us tell you that Delhi has retained four players before the mega auction. The names of all-rounder Akshar Patel, spinner Kuldeep Yadav, South African wicketkeeper Tristan Stubbs and uncapped player Abhishek Porel are in this list. DC released star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. Pant was the captain of DC. Pant will now enter the auction and a big bid is expected for him.
Delhi Capitals made three major changes in its coaching staff
Delhi Capitals has made three major changes in the support staff within a month. On October 17, DC appointed former Indian player Hemang Badani as the head coach and Venugopal Rao as the director of cricket. Badani, 47, replaced Ricky Ponting in the franchise. Badani, who has played four Tests and 40 ODIs for India, has coaching experience in various cricket leagues.
Rao, who played 16 ODIs for India, was part of the Deccan Chargers team that won the IPL in 2009. DC has not won the IPL trophy even once yet. He has played the IPL final once.
