Delhi: Indian team’s star batsman Karun Nair, who wrote a disappointing post on social media three years ago, has made a spectacular comeback in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and has proved his talent on the cricket field. While playing for Vidarbha in this tournament, he has scored 752 runs so far and during this period the right-handed batsman has scored 5 centuries. Nair, who wrote three years ago, “Dear cricket, please give me one more chance,” now dreams of wearing the India jersey.

He told PTI, “The dream of playing for India was always there and still is. This is what we play for. My only goal is to play for the country.”

33 year old Nair wants to focus on the present. He said, “I think this is my third comeback. I have to maintain my rhythm and focus on scoring runs in every match. The rest of the things are not in my hands.”

In such a situation, the question arises whether he will get a place in the team for the ODI series against England or the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Meanwhile, Nair said, “Until the selection happens, it is just a dream. But, I want to focus on one innings at a time.”

Regarding the change in his game, Nair said, “I did not do anything different. This is the result of my years of hard work and patience. I take every day as a new challenge and try to give my best.”

Remember that on 19 December 2016, Karun Nair had scored a triple century in the Test match against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He became the second Indian batsman to score a triple century in Test cricket. Now, at the start of the year 2025, Nair has scored 112*, 44*, 163*, 111*, 112*, 122 and 88* in his last 7 innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. During this period he has been out only once.
