Delhi: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that they will launch Bangladesh Premier League (WBPL) for women. This tournament will probably be held after the men’s BPL ends in February. According to board director Nazmul Abedin Fahim, it will be a three-team competition, which will be played in a double-league format and will have a total of seven matches.
Board can start women’s T20 league
Faheem said, “We were thinking for a long time what we can do to take women’s cricket forward. Can we start a T20 league for women players? Today we decided that we will organize the women’s edition of BPL.”
Will help improve women’s cricket
He also informed that the board is in talks with some men’s BPL teams, some of which have already shown interest. “We have talked to these franchisees. We want to see what impact she will have on women’s cricket. We hope this will help improve our women’s cricket.”

Only one foreign player allowed to play
Faheem also said that only one foreign player will be allowed to play in each team, and each team can have a maximum of 15 players. He told that the reason for limiting the number of foreign players is the financial situation, because taking four foreign players can increase the financial pressure on the teams, which they would not like to take.
More opportunities for domestic cricketers
“We want to give more opportunities to our domestic cricketers, so we have decided to organize the tournament with three teams. This will be the first women’s T20 league in Bangladesh. “Earlier, a women’s ODI league was organized in Dhaka, and recently the BCB has also started a three-day competition for women.”
