Delhi: Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy were seen encouraging the audience during the final match of the 18th season of IPL at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. The match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (PBKS) and Punjab Kings.
During this time, Rishi Sunak said during the interview after the RCB batting at the stadium, “It’s incredible, it is absolutely fantastic. This is my first experience here, the crowd of fans is tremendous. I have never seen such cricket before.”
Earlier, Rishi posted a selfie with his wife on the social media platform ‘X’ and wrote in the caption: “Let’s Go R RCB.”
RCB finished second in the group stage and made it to the finals for the first time in 15 years, where they defeated Table Toppers Punjab Kings (PBKS) by eight wickets in a one-sided match in Qualifier-1. At the same time, Punjab defeated Mumbai Indians (Mi) and made it to the final for the second time.
In the final match, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 190 runs in 20 overs against Punjab Kings. Also Sunak said, “IPL has completely changed cricket. Now every cricketer, anywhere, dreams of playing in the IPL. It has also been great for women’s cricket, because more girls through the Women’s Premier League are attracted to this game.”
