Delhi: Nitish Kumar Reddy has scored the first century of his Test career in the Melbourne Test. He scored this century when Team India was trying to save the follow-on. Nitish played a brilliant innings and hit 10 fours and 1 six in 172 balls. With this century, Nitish has become the third youngest Indian batsman to score a century in Australia. He achieved this feat at the age of 21 years and 216 days.

The only Indian players to score a century in Australia at a younger age than Nitish are Sachin Tendulkar and Rishabh Pant. Sachin scored a century in Sydney in 1992 at the age of 18 years and 253 days and just 30 days later he also scored a century in Perth. Pant scored a century in Sydney in 2019 at the age of 21 years and 92 days. Now Nitish Reddy’s name has been included in this list.
Apart from this, Nitish has also joined the select players who have scored a century while batting at number eight. Ravichandran Ashwin has scored four centuries for India while playing at the eighth position. At the same time, the record of scoring most centuries at number eight is in the name of former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori, who scored five centuries.
