Team owners want to buy ‘unsold’ players of IPL

The 10th edition of PSL will be played between April 8 and May 19, but this time its schedule is clashing with IPL. The franchise owners want to include players like David Warner and Steve Smith in the team, who were not sold in the IPL.

Difficult to buy big players in low budget

A team source told PTI that all six franchise owners are keen to bring big players into the team. But, the salary cap of US$2,00,000 for players in the PSL Player Draft has made it difficult.

There is no formula to sign big players

Big names like David Warner, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid will be free from international commitments due to the IPL window during April to May. A source said, “The problem is that the draft is on January 11 and it is difficult to find a formula to sign big players in such a short time. “Also, it is important to ensure that there is no inequality among the players in the PSL.”

The source also explained that the PCB and franchise owners understand that most of the big players who remained unsold in the IPL will not be ready to sign for PSL for less than US$2,00,000.
