Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has applied to trademark the name ‘Captain Cool’. This name has now been registered in the category of sports training and coaching services. Recently, Dhoni has also been included in the ICC Hall of Fame 2025.

Delhi: Whenever a ‘Captain Cool’ hears the word ‘Captain Cool’, first of all comes the name of veteran Indian captain MS Dhoni. Their calm and restrained behavior on the field makes them the best for this name. Perhaps Dhoni himself also believes that if someone is entitled to ‘Captain Cool’, he is the same. For this reason, he has started the process of registering a trademark for this name.

‘Captain Cool’ became Dhoni’s name trademark

According to PTI report, MS Dhoni’s trademark application for the name ‘Captain Cool’ has been “approved and publicized”. According to the trademark registry portal, this application has been published in the official journal on 16 June 2025.

This trademark has been recorded in sports training, its facilities and categories of coaching services.

Dhoni is counted among the most successful captains of Indian cricket. He made India proud by winning the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. Under his leadership, India also reached the 2014 T20 World Cup final and the semi -finals of the 2015 ODI World Cup.

PTI’s report also stated that another company, Prabha Skill Sports (OPC) Private Limited had also applied for the name ‘Captain Cool’. However, the status of his application is currently visible ‘Recphuality filed’.

In India, an application has to be made first to register any trademark. Then he is checked in the correct format and if there was no objection, it is published in the trademark journal.

Earlier this month, MS Dhoni was included in the ICC Hall of Fame 2025. Along with him, Matthew Hayden, Graham Smith, Daniel Vitori and Hashim Amla also joined the list. Dhoni called it an honor and said that it is a matter of pride for him to take his name with the great players of the world.

Dhoni’s cricket career

Dhoni played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20 International matches for India. He is the only captain who has won all three ICC White-Ball Trophy.

His 183* run innings which he played against Sri Lanka in 2005 is still the most runs scored by a wicketkeeper. He scored more than 10,000 runs in ODIs and his average was 50.57.

His fast reflex and stumping behind the wicket are still memorable.

In IPL 2025, he last played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He took the captaincy in the middle of the tournament when Ruturaj Gaikwad was out due to injury. However, despite Dhoni’s best efforts, this time the CSK was at the bottom of the points table.
