,Delhi: Pakistan’s men’s cricket team has changed about a dozen head coaches since winning the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. On this issue, team batsman Saud Shakeel has made fun of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). A video of him is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which he is seen satirizing the policy of changing the coach of the board.

During an interview recently, when Saud Shakeel was asked if he was made the chairman of PCB, what will he do first? In response, he jokingly said that his first step would have to be appointed a permanent head coach, whose tenure will be at least three years. He said on Geo News, “First, I will bring a head coach and no one will be able to remove it. Even if I am removed from the post of chairman, he will still remain in his post for three years.”

Currently Aqib Javed is handling the responsibility of Pakistan’s head coach. He was appointed to the post in view of the preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy. However, the team’s performance under his leadership was disappointing. Pakistan not only lost the domestic tri -series against South Africa and New Zealand, but could not win a single match in the Champions Trophy. Apart from this, the team also lost in ODI and T20 series against New Zealand.

Pakistan changed many coaches

Pakistan’s head coach Mickey Arthur was Mickey Arthur at the time of winning the 2017 Champions Trophy, but was removed in 2019. After this, the team changed several coaches, including Misbah ul Haq (2019-21), Sakalain Mushtaq (2021-23), Abdul Rahman (Interim, 2023), Grant Bradburn (2023), Mohammad Hafeez (2023-24), Azhar Mahmud (Interim, 2024, Now Assistant Coach), Jason Gillaspi (Test, 2024) and Garry Karisson (Test, 2024) ODIs, 2024) include.

When this process of changing coaches in Pakistan cricket will stop, only time will tell, but Saud Shakeel’s remarks have definitely started a new debate on this issue.
