Delhi: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the political tension between India and Pakistan has increased considerably. Meanwhile, the news is coming out that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) can be dissolved. India is co-holding the Asia Cup this year with Sri Lanka. However, the dates of the tournament and venue have not been decided yet. However, a recent report states that the Asia Cup cannot be held this time due to India-Pakistan tension.
Indian veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar has also given his opinion on this matter. He has said that if the Asia Cup occurs, Pakistan should be removed from it. Gavaskar believes that after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam last month, he cannot see Pakistan playing in this tournament.
BCCI’s stance will be like the government
Talking to ‘Sports Today’, Sunil Gavaskar said that BCCI always does what the Government of India decides. He said, “The BCCI’s attitude is according to the government. So I do not think a separate decision will be taken in terms of Asia Cup. India and Sri Lanka are hosting the tournament, but it depends on whether the situation changes or not. If the situation does not change, I do not think that Pakistan will be a part of the tournament this time.”
Asian Cricket Council may end
Sunil Gavaskar also said that the Asian Cricket Council can also be abolished. Especially since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been made ACC President. Gavaskar said, “I don’t know how this will happen, but it may happen that the ACC is dissolved and the Asia Cup is played between three or four countries. It can include countries like Hong Kong or UAE. The situation will be clear in the next few months.”
