Chairman Naqvi’s sharp trend
This decision has been confirmed by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. He said that Pakistan players will no longer be allowed to play in this tournament. Naqvi also made serious allegations against the organizers.
It is noteworthy that in the final of the World Champions League, the Pakistan Champions team suffered defeat against South Africa Champions.
India refused to play
Teams of retired cricketers participate in this tournament. On behalf of India Champions team, veteran players like Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan had fielded. During the tournament, two occasions came when India Champions had to face Pakistan Champions, but the Indian team refused to match both times.
Even in the semi-finals, when the two teams were face to face, India Champions withdrew the name from the match, due to which Pakistan got a walkover in the semi-finals, but the team could not win the title in the final.
Naqvi raised questions on fairness
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi questioned that when India Champions refused to play in the group stage, then why were equal marks. Expressing resentment on this, the board decided to separate from this tournament unanimously at the 79th Board of Governors meeting.

The statement issued by PCB said, “Pakistan Cricket Board makes it clear that it imposes a full ban on participation in the World Champions of Legend Tournament. The decision was taken under the chairmanship of Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in the 79th meeting of the board. Naqvi has taken this strict decision keeping in mind the tournament and the press release of the organizers.
