Delhi: Pakistan -born Mohammad Abbas made history by making his ODI debut for New Zealand on 29 March. He made a special record for New Zealand in the first ODI match played against Pakistan in Napier.

In this match, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 73 runs. However, the Kiwi team did not have a good start and lost their top -order wickets quickly. However, the 199 -run partnership of Mark Chapman and Deril Mitchell brought the team to a strong position. Mitchell scored 76 runs, while Chapman scored a brilliant 132 runs.

In the debut match itself, Mohammad Abbas got the fastest half -century and registered his name in cricket history. He broke the record of Indian all -rounder Krunal Pandya by completing the fifty in just 24 balls. Earlier, Krunal scored a half -century in 26 balls against England in 2021.

Who is Mohammad Abbas?

Mohammad Abbas was born on 29 November 2003 in Lahore, Pakistan. However, in his childhood, his father Azhar Abbas shifted to New Zealand with the family. Azhar Abbas himself was a cricketer and played first class cricket for Pakistan in the 90s. He bowled medium pace in 45 first class matches. Even after going to New Zealand, he continued cricket and played domestic cricket for Auckland. He is currently the assistant coach of the Firebords team.

At the same time, Mohammad Abbas is an all -rounder player. He bats with the right hand and bowls fast with the left hand. Recently, he made a place in the batsmen who scored the most runs by performing brilliantly in the Ford Trophy.
