Delhi: In the PSL 2025 draft held in Lahore last day, fast bowler Ihsanullah was not bought by any team. His fitness problems were in the news even before the draft. Due to wrong elbow surgery and wrong treatment, his journey back to the field became long and difficult.
Ihsanullah boycotted PSL
The day after the PSL 2025 draft, Ihsanullah made a statement on “Public News”, “I boycott PSL and take retirement from PSL. I will never play in PSL again.” He also made it clear that this decision is not emotional. Also, he told that no owner contacted him before the draft.
Rising star of PSL 2023
Ihsanullah made headlines with his brilliant performance in PSL 2023. Playing for Multan Sultans, he became the second highest wicket taker in the season by taking 22 wickets and also won the title of “Player of the Series”. His speed of 150 kmph impressed everyone.
Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen expressed concern about Ihsanullah’s bowling. He said in “The Ralukutte Show”, “It is very sad. We took him to a big surgeon who is an expert in this field. He told that ‘Surgery can be done, but due to previous wrong surgery and poor treatment, there is so much scar in his elbow that it will not be able to straighten completely now.’
Injury hinders career
After good performance in PSL, Ihsanullah got a chance in Pakistan team. He made his T20 debut against Afghanistan in March 2023. But he suffered an elbow injury during his ODI debut against New Zealand, which could not be properly treated and rehabilitated and kept him away from cricket for 21 months and also affected his speed.
