Delhi: The first match of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand was played in Napier today, in which the Kiwi team won by 73 runs to take a 1-0 lead. In this match, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first, but their bowlers’ performance was very poor. The Pakistani team spent 43 additional runs during this period and made a shameful record. This is the second highest number of additional runs spent by Pakistan in ODI cricket since 2000.
Earlier, Pakistan scored 44 additional runs in Dambula against New Zealand in 2003, which is their worst performance ever.
The highest number of additional runs spent by Pakistan in an innings of ODI after 2000:
44 runs – vs New Zealand, Dambula (2003)
43 runs – vs New Zealand, Napier (2025)
43 runs – vs New Zealand, Wellington (2001)
41 runs – vs India, Mohali (2007)
Pakistan bowlers conceded 43 extras. This is criminal. Agha Salman & Irfan Khan conceded 118 runs in 10 overs 🇵🇰🥵 #Nzvpak #tapmad #Dontstopstreaming #Catcheverymatch pic.twitter.com/x6c9jkeiyf

Pakistani negligence: 21 wide balls thrown
The poor line-length of Pakistani bowlers can be gauged from the fact that they bowled a total of 21 wide balls in the match. The highest seven wide balls were hit by Aqif Javed, while Mohammad Ali bowled five and Irfan Khan bowled four wide balls. Apart from this, Haris Rauf scored three, while Naseem Shah and Salman Aga hit one wide ball each.
Apart from Wide, Pakistani bowlers also looted 13 runs from Leg Bai, seven runs from Bai and two runs from No-Ball, causing their bowling flaws to be seen clearly.
New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 73 runs
New Zealand performed brilliantly against Pakistan and won by 73 runs. Batting first, the Kiwi team scored 344 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs, in response to which the team of guests was reduced to 271 runs in 44.1 overs.
