Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won by defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) by 12 runs at Wankhede Stadium on Monday in a thrilling match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). This was the third win of the RCB season and the special thing is that the three win teams have achieved outside the house. The RCB had so far received the only defeat against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium last week.
However, despite this important victory over Mumbai, RCB captain Rajat Patidar got into trouble. In fact, during this match, his team bowled at a slow over speed, due to which BCCI has taken strict action against him.
According to the official release of the IPL, “This was the team’s first over-rate violation in this season under Article 2.2 of the IPL code of conduct, so captain Rajat Patidar has been fined Rs 12 lakh.”
Silver became the hero of the match, but the credit for victory to Krunal Pandya
Rajat Patidar scored 64 runs off just 32 balls in this match and was selected as the Player of the Match. But, Patidar credited this victory to bowler Krunal Pandya, who performed well in the last over and took away the victory from the jaw of Mumbai Indians.
This was the first win of RCB after 10 years at the Wankhede Stadium. The match remained very exciting till the last over, where Mumbai needed 19 runs in 6 balls to win. Krunal dismissed Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar off the first two balls of the over, then sending Naman Dhir to the pavilion on the fifth ball and took 4 wickets for 45 runs in 4 overs. His performance gave the team captained by Hardik Pandya to the fourth defeat in the season five.
Patidar said after the match, “It was not easy and the manner in which Krunal bowled was fantastic. The courage he showed was amazing. We had already decided that we have to take the match to the last over and then use KP (Krunal Pandya) in the last over.”
