Delhi: Despite being the host, Pakistan’s team was out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 within just 5 days, due to which not only the fans are disappointed, but there is also deep resentment and concern in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). It is believed that a tough decision can be taken regarding the team, but in view of the Champions Trophy, the PCB has decided to maintain silence on the matter till the final on March 9.
A source close to the PCB revealed that the board officials are very disappointed with the team’s performance, especially for the defeat against India. The source said, “PCB priority is currently hosting the tournament’s success, so that Pakistan’s image remains as a good organizer, so no official statement will be given on the team’s performance.”
He said, “The board also believes that no poor performance can be defended, but it will be reviewed after the tournament.”
Significantly, Pakistan is to visit New Zealand from March 15, while the team’s interim head coach Aqib Javed’s contract ends on February 27. In such a situation, the board will have to appoint a coach for the tour of New Zealand soon.
