Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) match to be played on 23 April 2025, when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (Mi) are face to face, the scene on the field will be completely different from the normal days. During this time, the black band will be tied on the arms of the players, there will not be cheerleaders in the stadium nor any fireworks.
All this is being done recently in mourning the painful terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 innocent people lost their lives and many were injured. The ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) associated with Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba has taken responsibility for this attack, which has been strongly condemned internationally.
Prior to the match, the players of both the teams will pay tribute to the victims of the attack by keeping silence for one minute. A BCCI official told PTI, “The players of Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad will tie a black band in memory of those killed in this sad incident and keep a minute’s silence.”
Significantly, after the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, the Indian Cricket Board had canceled the bilateral series with Pakistan, and recently India also refused to participate in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be held in Pakistan, which ICC had to arrange neutral sites in Dubai.
