Delhi: Pakistan Super League (PSL) is once again under suspected bowling action of Usman Tariq, spinner of Quetta Gladiators in 2025. 27 -year -old Usman Tariq has once again been reported by the umpires. This was his second match this season, where he took one wicket for 31 runs in four overs while playing against Lahore Kalandars.
PCB and ICC did not take strict steps
Umpire Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown have reported their action as suspicious. But, so far neither PSL, nor Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) nor ICC have taken any strict steps. He is currently allowed to bowl. However, if their action is found suspicious again in an upcoming match, then they may be banned from bowling. To remove the ban, they have to clear their action from the ICC -recognized lab.
Earlier in March 2024, Usman Tariq’s bowling action was reported. Even then, he played the first three matches of the tournament. But just five days later, his action was cleared in the Test held at the National Cricket Academy of Lahore. After that he continued to bowl without any restriction in the tournament.
What is the problem in Tariq’s action?
Tariq’s action is different from common bowlers. Their run-up is normal, but just before delivery, he stops completely for a second. After this, he puts an off break ball with side-arm action, which looks like baseball.

It is not yet clear when his next test will be. Although an ICC in Pakistan is present in a recognized biomechanics lab Lahore, the next match of Quetta’s team is on 25 April. So far, the team has played two matches, in which they defeated Peshawar Jalmi and in the other a big defeat with Lahore Kalandars.
