Delhi: Due to the increasing border tension between Pakistan and India, Pakistan Super League (PSL) will now be held in UAE, the remaining 8 matches of 2025. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that new dates of matches and grounds will be given soon.

Rawalpindi’s match canceled

The match between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi was to be held in Rawalpindi on Thursday, but it was postponed in view of the situation. An emergency meeting was called for this decision, in which PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and foreign players participated. Most of the foreign players suggested that the tournament should be shifted to UAE.

Players have left for UAE

According to Espncricinfo’s report, foreign players have now left for UAE from Pakistan. PCB is now engaged in deciding the venue for the matches in UAE, so the next match may be delayed by a few days.

Old schedule and change

Earlier, 4 matches were to be played in Rawalpindi, one Multan and 3 matches in Lahore. PCB had earlier just said that the schedule of the tournament would be changed, but then it was not clear that the matches would be taken out of Pakistan. Then Karachi was also considered an alternative.

PSL and UAE’s old relationship

The relationship between PSL and UAE is not new. When the PSL started in 2016, the first two seasons were played in the UAE itself (only the 2017 final was held in Pakistan). In 2021, some part of season 6 was also played in UAE due to Corona epidemic.

Possible impact on international program

The delay in PSL may also affect Pakistan’s International Cricket Program. The PSL final was to be held on May 18, and Bangladesh’s team is going to visit Pakistan three days later. The series of five T20 matches was to start in Faisalabad from 25 May. PCB says that no decision has been taken on the future of this series.
