Delhi: Sanju Samson has been dropped from the Kerala team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. According to reports, Samson could not participate in the pre-tournament camp, due to which he was not given a place in the team. Samson was the captain of Kerala in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, but his team failed to reach the knockouts. Kerala had won four out of six matches in this tournament.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Samson had sent a letter to the Kerala Cricket Association explaining the reason for his absence from the camp. However, as per its policy, KCA included only those players in the team who participated in the camp. After Sachin Baby’s injury, Salman Nizar has been appointed captain for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

KCA secretary Vinod S Kumar told The Indian Express, “Sanju had sent an email saying that he could not participate in the camp. The team had organized a small camp without him in Wayanad. Therefore, we considered only those players who took part in the selection process. There was no further discussion about this.”
