Delhi: Despite the military tension between India and Pakistan after the recent Pahalgam attack, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 qualifier 1 and eliminator matches will not be affected. The Punjab Police on Wednesday confirmed that both these matches will be according to the schedule at Mullanpur Stadium near Mohali.
Organization will be held according to the revised program
The IPL had to be postponed for a week due to Indo-Pak tension, but now its revised schedule has been released. According to this, qualifiers will be played on 1 Thursday and eliminator will be played in Mullanpur on Friday. At the same time, qualifiers 2 and finals will be held in Ahmedabad on 1 and 3 June.
Punjab Police made strict security arrangements
Special DGP (Law and Order) of Punjab Police Arpit Shukla said that strict security arrangements have been made in the stadium and the surrounding areas. He said, “There are going to be 2 very important matches tomorrow and the day after tomorrow at Mullanpur Stadium. People from all over the country will come to see these matches. There is a lot of enthusiasm among people.”
He further said, “About 65 gazetted officers and more than 2,500 policemen have been deployed in security. We will ensure that the audience does not have any kind of trouble. The security system will be very strict.”
Practice of safety through mock drill
Police officials said that mock drill (practice) was done on Tuesday and practice is going on on Wednesday. This will ensure that the police are fully prepared to deal with any emergency.
Mock drill preparations happening across the country
The Government of India has decided to organize civil defense mock drills in many states of the country to strengthen emergency preparations in view of the recent struggle. This practice will be done on Thursday in Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier this month, India had drilled a big mock for the first time since 1971, which was held a few hours before the start of ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Ever watching both cricket and security
Although the situation of the country remains sensitive, the cricket lovers have been relieved due to the efforts of the Punjab Police and the security agencies concerned. Now everyone’s eyes will be on Thursday and Friday’s big matches, where both adventure and security will be taken care of.
