Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday included all -rounder Raj Angad Bawa in the team for an important match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Bawa, who hails from Chandigarh, has made many big records in under-19 and first class cricket.

Raj Angad Bawa has a deep connection with the game. His grandfather Trilochan Singh Bawa was part of the Indian hockey team winning the gold medal at the 1948 London Olympics, while his father Sukhwinder Bawa is a famous cricket coach who prepared a player like Yuvraj Singh.

Bawa started his cricket career from Chandigarh and made it to the Indian Under-19 team on the strength of his talent. He considers Yuvraj Singh as his inspiration and wants to play on a large scale like him.

Bawa scored an unbeaten 162* run in 108 balls against Uganda in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup. This was the highest personal score made by any Indian batsman in the Under-19 World Cup, which broke Shikhar Dhawan’s record of 155* runs in 2004.

Bawa shocked 5 wickets (5/31) in the final against England. This was the second best bowling performance in any Under-19 World Cup final. For this excellent performance, he was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ and India won by 4 wickets.

In the entire tournament, Bawa scored 252 runs (average 63) in 6 matches and also took 9 wickets. He was the third highest run -scorer in the tournament for India and the second highest wicket -taking bowler.

Raj Angad Bawa made his Ranji Trophy debut for Chandigarh in 2022 and made a brilliant debut with a wicket on his first ball. So far, he has scored more than 630 runs in the Ranji Trophy, in which the innings of 146 runs against Assam is his highest score.

In the IPL, Bawa made his IPL debut for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2022, where he was bought for Rs 2 crore. However, he did not get much opportunities and scored 11 runs in 2 matches. In 2025, Mumbai Indians (Mi) bought them for Rs 30 lakh. Apart from this, Bawa has performed brilliantly in Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Not only this, Bawa came into the limelight due to his performance in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2021 and World Cup 2022. In an informal ODI against New Zealand A, he performed 4/11 brilliantly.

For Mumbai Indians, this season can play an important role in Raj Angad Bawa’s career. In view of his all -round game, the fans will expect him to perform well.
