Before the mega auction of IPL 2025, middle order explosive batsman Rajat Patidar was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 11 crore. So this confidence is visible in the players’ play in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024.

Let us tell you that Rajat is at third place among the players who have scored the most runs in the ongoing tournament. Rajat has so far scored a total of 347 runs in 9 matches played in SMAT at a strike rate of 182.63, in which he also scored four half-centuries with his bat.

Apart from batting, Patidar has also taken Madhya Pradesh to the finals of the tournament under his captaincy. The final match of SMAT will be played between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh on 15th December.

On the other hand, before this match, when he was asked about captaining Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, he appeared quite vocal. Patidar has expressed his desire to indirectly captain the team.

Rajat Patidar gave a big statement

Let us tell you that recently before the final match of SMAT, Rajat Patidar, quoting Times of India, said – Yes, definitely. RCB is a big franchise and I love playing for RCB. After being retained by RCB, it has given me a lot of confidence.

Patidar further said about the captaincy of the team – Of course, if I get a chance to lead RCB, I will be happy. That’s probably why I’m there, but it all depends on the franchise.

Also, let us tell you that in the 18th season of IPL, there is a high possibility that RCB management will hand over the captaincy of the team to Rajat Patidar, because the team has released Faf du Plessis. Also, retaining the player for a huge amount of Rs 11 crores indicates this.
