Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the current captain Rajat Patidar of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has made a big disclosure. He told that there was a time when he had thought that he would not play for RCB now. This is about the IPL season of 2022, when the team ignored him in the mega auction, while he was already told that he would be included in the team.

Patidar told that he was very disappointed and angry at that time. He felt that there would be no chance to play for RCB now. But, luck again gave him a chance. When a player was injured, he was called as a replacement.

Patidar did not want to return to RCB

Patidar said, “When I got a call that you were coming to the team instead of Lavanith Sisodia, I did not mind to go back. I did not want me to just go as a replacement and then sit in the dugout.”

At that time, Patidar was playing home matches in Indore. But, he got a chance and he proved himself. Now he is captaining the IPL 2025 for RCB.

Dare Kohli

Patidar admitted that it was a big moment for him to get the responsibility of captaincy from Virat Kohli. Initially he felt a little pressure, but Kohli’s words gave him confidence.

He said, “Virat Bhaiya told me that just trust yourself. The same words mean the most to me.”

In this season, Patidar has scored 239 runs in 11 matches so far and he has become an important player of the middle order of the team. His dream is to get RCB the first IPL title.

Travel from resentment to captaincy

Patidar, who brought the team of Madhya Pradesh to the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, said that there was a time when he was really angry. But, later he handled himself and continued hard work. Today, he is captaining the same team from which he was once removed.
