Delhi: An interesting incident came to light about the playing XI of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an important match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Acting captain Jitesh Sharma decided to bowl before the toss and told that Rajat Patidar will be the impact player of the team.
However, Patidar’s name was also included in RCB’s official (playing XI) team sheet, while his finger injury was expected that he would be available only for batting. This indicated that there was a mistake in the playing XI sheet from the team management.
Sensing the situation, RCB sought permission from BCCI to improve, which got approval. Later, leg -spinner Suyash Sharma was replaced by Rajat Patidar in a new playing XI sheet. Pictures of this revised sheet also went viral on social media, and broadcasters also updated the changes made in the team.
Former Indian player and former RCB coach Sanjay Bangar said during the commentary that technically the opposition team ie Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) could reject this change, but it did not happen. This sportsmanship maintained the spirit of the game and RCB got a chance to get into the field with a balanced team. The good thing is that the situation was handled in time and the game proceeded without any dispute.
