Virat Kohli took over the captaincy of Daniel Vettori in 2013 and led the team until 2021. He had taken RCB to the final in 2016, but he could not get the team the title. Many times the team’s performance was weak and the RCB point was below in the table. Questions were raised on Kohli’s captaincy, especially with his constant change in team combinations and strategies.

Parthiv Patel’s IPL career ended in 2019. He scored 2,848 runs in 139 matches and also won the title with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (Mi). After Gary Kirsten left, RCB made Simon Katich a coach in 2020, but his term did not last long. Later, the arrival of Andy Flower led to a change in the team and RCB created history by winning the title for the first time.
