Delhi: Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Friday, 9 May that Shukri Conrad will now be the head coach of South Africa’s ODI and T20 team. He will replace Rob Walter, who left his post after not qualifying in the final of the Champions Trophy.
Coach will remain till 2027
Shukri Conrad will now be the coach of South Africa’s white ball (ODI and T20) team till the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027. Earlier, he was playing the role of head coach of the Test team. Under his leadership, South Africa has made it to Lord’s against Australia in the final of the World Test Championship.
First challenge in July
Conrad’s first challenge in the new role will be in July 2025, when South Africa’s team will play the T20i series against New Zealand and Zimbabwe.
Has identified in Test team
CSA officials said that Conrad has prepared a strong identity and structure in the Test team. Now they will bring the same experience in the cricket of white ball, which will also benefit the ODI and T20 team.

Shukri Conrad expressed happiness about this responsibility. He said, “It is a great respect for me that I have got a chance to lead the team in all three formats. We have excellent talent in white ball cricket and I believe that we can do something big.”
Target to become number 1 in all three formats
Coach Conrad further said, “Our aim is to become the world’s number 1 team in all three formats. This is my biggest goal and we will work hard for it.”
2026 and 2027 World Cup
In the coaching of Shukri Conrad, South Africa’s team will enter the Men T20 World Cup to be held in 2026 and the 2027 ODI World Cup. Both tournaments will have high expectations from the team.
