Former fast bowler RP Singh has suggested RCB to retain Virat Kohli and consider releasing the entire squad before the IPL 2025 auction.
IPL Auction 2025 Royal Challengers Bengaluru: BCCI has announced the retention rules ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. All franchises have been asked to submit the list of retained players by October 31.
BCCI has made many new rules for IPL 2025 and this time the mega auction is going to be very interesting. Ahead of next season’s mega auction, former Indian cricket team fast bowler RP Singh has suggested RCB to retain Virat Kohli and consider releasing the entire squad before the IPL 2025 auction.
What is the retention rule of IPL 2025?
As per the new retention rules of IPL, each team has been given a chance to retain 6 players or re-engage players using RTM. Kohli has proved to be a key player for RCB in IPL 2024 and has played a key role in taking the team to the playoffs.
Not only this, Kohli won the Orange Cap in IPL 2024 and scored 741 runs in 15 matches. Speaking to Colors Cineplex, RP Singh said that if Kohli remains in the team, other players like Mohammed Siraj and Rajat Patidar can be brought back in the auction using RTM cards.
Which players will RCB retain for IPL 2025? RP Singh gave advice
RP Singh said, “I think he has no problem. They will retain Kohli and release everyone else and use RTM. If we take the example of Rajat Patidar, will we be able to buy him in the auction at a price more or less than Rs 11 crore?” I think Rajat Patidar will be available for less than that. So you take it to the auction. Even if it gets close to Rs 11 crore, you have RTM which you can use there.”
He further said, “Looking at Siraj’s performance, you will have to re-evaluate whether you will be able to bring him closer to Rs 11 crore or not. I don’t think Siraj will be able to reach close to 14 crores. They will always have the option to use RTM if he gets there.
RP said, “They should go with new thinking. They need Virat, he has contributed a lot to the franchise and Virat is a very important player. Apart from Virat Kohli, I don’t see any other player worth Rs 18 or 14 crore in this team.
Apart from Indian players, RCB team includes star foreign players like Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green and Will Jacques. All eyes will be on which foreign player RCB will retain.
