Veteran Indian fast bowler Mohit Sharma recently spoke about his experience playing with Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. He suggested that this all-rounder is highly expressive, a trait that many aspire to but fail to possess.

Sharma said that if someone wants to be polite, it does not mean that every person will want the same. He said that Hardik is often misunderstood because it is not easy to accept a strong personality.

Speaking on YouTube channel 2Sloggers, Sharma said:

“The concept of being misunderstood is different for every person. If I choose to be polite, it doesn’t mean that everyone will want to be polite. There are some people who express too much. In our community, when someone comes out like this we find it difficult to accept.”

“Let me give you a perfect example – if you live in a tall building and see someone enjoying the rain, we too feel like doing the same, but our hesitation stops us from doing so. So, everyone wants to be like Hardik, but they cannot be like him, which results in these things.”

Hardik Pandya captained Gujarat before rejoining his former franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of IPL 2024 and led GT to the title in their maiden edition in 2022 and finished runners-up the following season.

“He is a lovely kind of guy and is very easy going” Mohit Sharma on Hardik Pandya

While talking in the video, Mohit Sharma said that Hardik Pandya is a very easy-going person. He said that 30-year-old Pandya’s best quality as a captain is to fill the team with positive energy and encourage everyone.

He also told that Hardik Pandya used to give his best on the field despite his back problem.

“As a person, Hardik is a very nice person. He is a lovely person and very easy going. He makes the atmosphere very entertaining. It doesn’t matter what the world thinks. As a leader, there is always room for improvement. The biggest quality of Hardik is that he encourages his players because he himself likes to be excited.”

“When he does that, it’s inspiring to people around him. He somehow manages to fix his back, but still has some cramps and back pain. It’s easy for people to say that, but you have to be in that situation to understand. When you have a back injury you can’t even move, but in that situation, he fields and tries to bowl two overs.”
