Star keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is likely to be released from Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction. On October 30, a long meeting was held between Pant and GMR and JSW Group but they did not reach any conclusion. Although the franchise remains interested in Pant and they believe that things may change before the retention deadline but as things stand, Pant may be seen on the auction table.

Meanwhile, five-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has shown interest in buying Pant for the next season. They see him as a replacement for MS Dhoni and are likely to spend a hefty sum on the 27-year-old. However, if they retain five players, CSK will not have enough money to buy Pant in the auction.

CSK can use RTM for Ravindra Jadeja

Keeping that in mind, CSK may release Ravindra Jadeja. According to The Indian Express, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led team is in no mood to part with the all-rounder and may use RTM to buy him back. The team management is still working on its retention strategy and changes can be expected late.

In fact CSK management knows that if Pant comes to the auction table, he is likely to be sold for more than Rs 20 crore. In that case, they would not have enough money to bid for Pant. Pant is such a player whom he wants to include in his team at any cost.

Meanwhile, over the past few years, the franchise has made some bold decisions when it comes to retention. They have released players like Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Bravo in the past and it would not be surprising if they release Ravindra Jadeja this time too.
