We tried to talk to Rishabh Pant- Hemang Badani

Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani S. While talking on Badrinath’s YouTube channel, he said,

I think it’s the opposite. He did not want to be retained. He said he wanted to go to the auction and test the market. If you want to retain a player, both parties (team and player) have to agree on certain things. We tried to talk to him, the management tried to talk to him. Lots of phone calls and messages were sent.

Hemang Badani told that Rishabh believed that if he entered the auction, he would get more than Rs 18 crore and it happened.

They felt that the highest price they could get for a retained player was more than Rs 18 crore. They felt their price was high. And the market also said the same. He got Rs 27 crore. Good for them. He is a very good player. We will definitely miss him. But, life goes on.

Delhi Capitals bought KL Rahul for Rs 14 crore in the mega auction, he can be seen captaining in the upcoming season. At the same time, the franchise has also shown confidence in players like Mitchell Starc, Jack Fraser-McGurk and Faf du Plessis.

Let us tell you, Rishabh Pant had earlier told that the reason for his not being retained was not at all money. The wicketkeeper wrote in a post shared on social media, I can definitely say that money was not the reason for my retention.”
