Delhi: India has suffered a major setback in the fourth Test match between India and England. In the last session of the first day, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was injured. Pant was seen in good rhythm by scoring 37 runs in 48 balls, but he was hurt in an attempt to reverse the ball of Chris Woakes.
The ball took the inner edge of his bat and hit his right leg directly. He fell on the ground in pain and immediately had to call the medical team. He was then taken out on stretcher and sent to the hospital for a scan. Now the medical team is monitoring their situation.
Michael Etharton talks on Pant’s injury
After the end of the first day’s play, former England captain Michael Atherton while talking to Sky Cricket said that the injury looked serious. He said, “If Pant gets out of this match or series, it will be a huge loss for India. Today’s score will be changed from 264/4 to 264/5, and England will also have a new ball. In such a situation, India can be dismissed quickly. But, if Pant comes to bat again, he can change the attitude of the match.”
Sai Sudarshan updated on injury
For India, Sai Sudarshan scored the first half -century of Test career in this match. He told in the press conference that the team will get any official information about Pant’s position the next morning.
Sudarshan said, “He was in a lot of pain, but has been taken for a scan. Till tomorrow we will know what is the situation. If he does not return, there will definitely be a shortage in our batting. But the players who are left will try to give their best.”
India made a great start to the match and lost no wickets in the first session. However, three wickets fell before tea. Vox dismissed Rahul, then Liam Dawson, who returned to the test after a long time, sent Yashasvi Jaiswal to the pavilion. After that England captain Ben Stokes also dismissed Shubman Gill and then Sai Sudarshan.
Now India is eyeing the next day, as well as the fans are waiting for a big update about Pant’s injury.
