Rishabh Pant is not comparable to Gilchrist: former Indian veteran’s viral statement

Delhi: Former Team India all -rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has praised Rishabh Pant. He said that Pant should not be compared to Australia’s great wicketkeeper batsman Adam Gilchrist. Ashwin said, “I want Rishabh Pant to be seen at the level of Rishabh Pant. People compare him to Gilchrist, but Gilchrist did not have such a strong defense technique as Pant has.”

Pant’s defense is better than Gilchrist

Ashwin told that Gilchrist was a great batsman who used to play at number seven and turned the match. At the same time, Pant batting at number five and his role is quite different in the team. Ashwin said, “Rishabh Pant has a very high level defense technique. Gilchrist was never able to defense as Pant. Pant should compare Gilchrist but to the top batsmen.”

“Pant should not play like Shubman Gill”

Ashwin said that Pant should maintain his natural game, but some restraint is also necessary. Giving the example of Shubman Gill, he said that it is not right to get caught in the bowler’s trap every time. Ashwin said, “I don’t want Pant to play like Shubman Gill, but he should have a little control and understanding. Like when Shoaib Bashir throws the ball outside the stump and sets a trap by setting the field, Pant should understand that this is a plan.”

“Fool the bowlers, don’t get stuck yourself”

Ashwin appealed to Pant to understand the bowler’s plan and do not play the shot as per his will. He said, “If there is no field for reverse sweep, then do not hit the same shot. Don’t get trapped in the trap. I want Pant to play on 143 and reach 200. If he plays so, India can declare its innings at any time.”

Pant is in tremendous form against England

Rishabh Pant has performed brilliantly in the first two matches of the five -match Test series. He has scored a total of 342 runs so far and has an average of 85.50. In the Leeds Test, he scored a century in both innings, while in Birmingham, he scored a stormy innings of 65 runs off 58 balls in the second innings.

Now that the series is at 1-1, Team India will take on England in the third Test at Lord’s from July 10. Rishabh Pant will once again have a big basis for the team’s expectations.
