Delhi: A big decision has been taken regarding the captaincy of Delhi Ranji team. Delhi will play the sixth match of Elite Group D against Saurashtra in Rajkot from 23 to 26 January. For this, there was a plan to make Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant the captain.
Rishabh refuses captaincy
Rishabh Pant, who last played Ranji Trophy in the 2017-18 season, has refused to captain the team. He said that his LSG teammate Ayush Badoni should continue the captaincy of Delhi. At the same time, Indian cricket’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli has been included in Delhi’s Ranji team after 12 years. However, Kohli’s playing in this match will depend on his availability.
It is mandatory to play domestic cricket
On January 16, BCCI has issued new 10-point guidelines for the players. In this, it has been made mandatory for the players to play domestic cricket. If a player does not follow this, his selection for international matches may be affected and his central contract may also be in danger.
BCCI has also clarified that exemption will be given only in “exceptional circumstances”, for which the approval of the head of the selection committee will be required.
