Delhi: Former Mumbai Indians (Mi) captain and veteran batsman Rohit Sharma has broken a historic record of former explosive opener Chris Gayle during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Rohit started his innings in a strong way. In the very first over of the match, Rohit made a big record.

He hit a brilliant six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar, which was his 13th six in the first over in the history of IPL. With this, Rohit became the batsman to hit the most sixes in the first over of IPL, leaving behind Chris Gayle. Gayle had a record of 12 sixes.

However, Rohit could not pull his innings long and became clean bold off Yash Dayal’s ball by scoring 17 runs in 9 balls.

Rohit Sharma’s performance in IPL 2025 has not been special so far. He has scored just 38 runs in four matches. His scores are – 0, 8, 13 and 17 runs.

In this match, Rohit Sharma returned to the team after being out due to a knee injury in the previous match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah also made a comeback with him, who returned to the field in competitive cricket for the first time after being injured in the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar series.
