Delhi: Indian team captain Rohit Sharma reacted to the dispute between Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Constas on the first day of the ongoing fifth Test match against Australia in Sydney. He said that players should avoid getting involved in any controversy without any reason. This rivalry started from the fourth Test match, when Constas adopted an aggressive attitude against Bumrah. In response to this, Bumrah bowled Constas and sent him to the pavilion in the second innings.
In fact, in the third over of the match, when Bumrah ran to bowl his fifth ball, he saw that Khawaja was not ready to bat. Bumrah expressed displeasure on this and said something to Khawaja. Meanwhile, looking towards Constas Bumrah standing at the non-striker end, he started muttering something. Due to this, Bumrah started going towards Constas in anger, but the umpire took charge of the situation and separated the two players. Seeing this, the spectators also got excited and the atmosphere in the ground became heated.
At the same time, Rohit Sharma defended his players and said that the Indian team’s focus remains only on its work. Speaking to Star Sports during the lunch break, he said, “As long as you do not tease the Indian players, they remain calm. But, if someone starts teasing then everyone cannot remain calm. Play cricket, unnecessary debates and speeches are not appropriate. Our players are classy and we just concentrate on our work.”
Rohit also praised Jasprit Bumrah, who is captaining the team in this match. He said, “Bumrah has a good understanding of the game. He sets an example with his bowling. His thinking and ability to understand the game is amazing. I have been seeing him for the last 11 years. Everyone can get inspired by seeing his career graph. Bumrah is a big strength of our team and there is no doubt about it.
