Delhi: Rohit Sharma has been batting at number six instead of opening for the last two Test matches, but till now he has not got any significant benefit from this change. He has failed to play big innings in the last two matches of the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.

Who gave Rohit Sharma, a match-winning player, to the Indian team?

Sunil Gavaskar gave statement on Rohit

Former great Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar has given a big statement about Rohit Sharma. Gavaskar believes, “If Rohit’s poor form continues, he may leave the captaincy. Rohit has been going through poor form recently, due to which he is facing criticism.

Rohit is batting at number six in this series, but there has been no improvement in his form at this position also. He has failed to score big in the last two matches against Australia. Gavaskar says that if Rohit is not able to score runs in the next few matches, then he himself can leave the captaincy, because he is a responsible player and does not want to be a burden on the team.

Rohit may decide to leave captaincy

Gavaskar said while talking to an Australian channel, “Rohit will definitely get a chance to play in the next few matches, but if he fails to score runs, then it is possible that he will take the decision himself. He cares about Indian cricket, so if the situation does not improve, he can decide to leave the captaincy.”

Rohit’s bat is calm even on Australia tour

Rohit started batting at number six in this series, when he played in Adelaide Test on Australia tour. After six years, he came to bat in the middle order, but he could not score much runs in that test. Even in the third test, his performance was nothing special, where he was out after scoring 10 runs in 10 balls.

2024 was not special for Rohit

Rohit’s performance in Test cricket this year has not been good. So far he has scored 607 runs in 24 innings at an average of 26.39.
