Delhi: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has suspended former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth from all cricket activities. This decision has been taken due to ‘false and derogatory’ statements against Sreesanth’s KCA. The controversy began when Sreesanth expressed his anger over the exclusion of Sanju Samson from India’s team for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Why did KCA ban Sreesanth?

After these statements of Sreesanth, KCA sent him a show cause notice. However, the association says that this notice was not to support Sanju, but because of wrong and derogatory statements.

Sreesanth is currently the co-owner of the Kollam Seller franchise of the Kerala Cricket League. KCA says that he has violated the terms of his contract.

KCA also raised the old spot -fixing case of Sreesanth. The statement said that when Sreesanth was in jail, the association also supported him. However, the case was rejected by the court, but he was not completely acquitted. In such a situation, Sreesanth does not have the right to tarnish the image of the rest of the players.

Sreesanth was arrested by Delhi Police in 2013 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot -fixing case. At that time he was in the Rajasthan Royals (RR) team. Later, the Patiala House Court dismissed all the allegations against him and in 2019 the Supreme Court also removed a lifetime ban on him.

What did Sreesanth answer?

However, Sreesanth continued to criticize KCA. In an interview to Onamnorama, he said that the association does not give a chance to its Malayali players and bring out the players from outside. He raised the question as to why no other international player except Sanju Samson came out of Kerala. He said, “We have only one player of international level, Sanju. We should support him.” He took the names of players like Sachin Baby, Nidhish MD and Vishnu Vinod and said that he also needs to bring forward.
