Delhi: In the second Test match between South Africa and Pakistan being held in Cape Town, South Africa’s position looks strong after the first day’s play. Thanks to the brilliant century innings of Ryan Rickelton and captain Temba Bavuma, the visiting team has scored 316 runs for four wickets on the first day. Rickelton is unbeaten on 176 runs, while Bavuma played an inning of 106 runs.
History repeated at Newlands after 11 years
This match is the last match of the Test series between South Africa and Pakistan, which is being played at Newlands, Cape Town. The first day’s play was entirely in the name of South Africa. Due to the century innings of Rickelton and Bavuma, it happened after 11 years on the Newlands ground that two batsmen scored centuries on the first day. Earlier in 2013, Pakistan’s Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq had scored centuries in the first day’s play on this ground. Also, both of them have made a record partnership for the fourth wicket.
