Delhi: Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) on Friday announced that legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has accepted its invitation to become a member of the prestigious body. MCC, founded in 1838, is one of the oldest sporting clubs in Australia.

Sachin is the highest run scorer among Indian batsmen in MCG

MCC wrote on social media platform ‘X’, “An ‘icon’ was honored.” Former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted honorary membership of MCC for his outstanding contribution to the game. Tendulkar has scored 449 runs in five Test matches at the MCG at an average of 44.90 and strike rate of 58.69. He has one century and three half-centuries in his name on this ground.

Received ‘Order of Australia’ honor in 2012

Earlier, in 2012, Sachin Tendulkar was awarded the ‘Order of Australia’, one of Australia’s highest honours. Currently MCG is hosting the fourth match of the five-match Test series between India and Australia.
