Delhi: Pakistan’s opening batsman Saim Ayub suffered an ankle injury on the first day of the second Test match being played between South Africa and Pakistan at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. Now according to the latest news, Ayub has been ruled out of the ongoing second test match against South Africa. While fielding, Syme sprained his right ankle. X-ray and MRI tests were done to check the severity of his injury, the reports of which have been sent to experts in London. Experts will now advise on Syme’s treatment and period of stay away from the field.

Tragic incident that happened during fielding

The incident occurred in 6.2 overs of the match, when Mohammad Abbas bowled a fuller length ball to Ryan Rickelton at a speed of 124 kmph. Rickelton played the shot with the full face of the bat open, but the ball hit the outer edge and passed between gully and backward point.

In an attempt to stop the ball, Aamir Jamal and Ayub gave quick chase. Jamal tried to stop the ball by sliding brilliantly near the boundary, but in the meantime Saim Ayub slipped and twisted his right ankle. As soon as the injury occurred, Ayub was seen groaning in pain and he signaled to call the physio.

Syme was taken out of the field after the injury. In his place, Abdullah Shafiq was fielded as a substitute fielder. This incident is a matter of concern for Pakistan, because Saim Ayub is one of the key players of the team. His absence may affect the team’s batting.

Recently, a picture of him has surfaced, in which he is seen walking on crutches. This scene is very horrifying from the point of view of Pakistan cricket.
