Delhi: England fast bowler Saqib Mahmood made history in the T20 match played against India on Friday, 31 January at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. He threw a maiden over with three wickets in a single over.
Mahmud created history
Mahmood was included in the England team in place of Mark Wood, while Jacob Bethel got a chance in place of injured Jamie Smith. Mahmud left his mark as soon as he came and took three wickets without giving any runs in his first over.
He became the first England bowler in T20 international matches to throw maiden with three wickets in a single over. Apart from this, he has also become the first bowler in the world to do so against India.
Great bowling in second over
This magnificent over of Mahmud came in the second over of the innings, which is the first feat done by any player in T20 international cricket so quickly. Earlier, in 2007, Jerome Taylor of West Indies took three wickets in the second over against South Africa.
Mahmood first dodged Sanju Samson on a short ball off the ball. Then, Tilak Verma was caught out on deep third. Captain Suryakumar Yadav saved the hat-trick ball, but caught a short mid-on on the last ball of the over.
