Delhi: Former head coach of the Indian team Ravi Shastri has advised to send fast bowler Mohammed Shami to Australia as soon as possible. He says that this can reduce the pressure on Jasprit Bumrah during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Shami has recently returned to the field after recovering from injury and is currently playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The selectors of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are keeping an eye on his fitness.

Shami can go for Melbourne and Sydney test
Ravi Shastri said during the ongoing second Test match in Adelaide that Shami reaching Australia soon will be beneficial for India. He said, “When Bumrah bowls, there is a lot of pressure on the opposition team. But, Bumrah also has a lot of workload.”
Good performance in domestic T20 tournament
Shami has performed well in the domestic T20 tournament. While playing for Bengal, he has taken eight wickets in seven matches. His performance shows that he is back in rhythm. However, Shastri believes that it may be too early to prepare Shami for the third Test to be held in Brisbane between 14-18 December. But, he can join the team for Melbourne and Sydney tests.
Shami’s excellent record in Australia
Shami’s record in Australia has been excellent. He has taken 44 wickets in 12 test matches there. Out of these, he has taken 31 wickets in 8 matches.
According to reports, recently a selector and NCA staff had gone to Rajkot to take stock of his fitness. This has increased the possibility that Shami can be included in the team at any time during the series.
