Delhi: The Indian cricket team veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami is expected to be out of the upcoming tour of England. Shami, who is currently playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, has recently returned to cricket after recovering ankle injury. According to a report by the Indian Express, the selectors believe that Shami is not fully fit and is not in a position to throw long spells during Test matches in England.
The Medical Team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the board that Shami’s current workload does not assure that he is physically prepared for red-ball cricket. In the report, a board source said, “Shami is putting only four overs in the IPL, but the board and the selectors do not know if he can bowl more than 10 overs in a day. Fast bowlers have to be spelled in Test matches in England, and we cannot take risks.”
Shami has a good experience and his absence can prove to be a big shock for the Indian team. Especially in challenging circumstances like England, where the role of fast bowlers is important.
Indian Test team announced soon
According to media reports, India’s Test team can be announced this week. According to reports, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill can be given the captaincy. Now it will be interesting to see which players the selectors trust and who are kept out of the team.
