Delhi: Indian team wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant showed tremendous passion on the second day of Manchester Test. Despite the fracture, he landed on the field and took out India out of difficult time. Pant was injured on the first day and retired. But, on the second day, when the team needed them, then they came to bat with pain.

Rishabh Pant scored a brilliant 54 runs off 75 balls. In this innings, he hit three fours and two big sixes. However, Jofra Archer bowled him and ended his combative innings.

Shardul Thakur praised Pant

Shardul Thakur, who himself played a useful innings, praised Pant and said that it was already a plan of the team that if Pant would be able to walk a little, then he would bat.

He said, “Our plan was to bring Pant to bat. The medical team worked hard. It is a big deal to bring him back and then scoring him. We saw today again how much he can do for the team.”

Pant was hurt by a reverse sweep off the ball of Chris Woakes. Pant was not with him when the team was warm -up on the second day.

“When we were warm -up, Pant was not with us. I touched his feet and saw whether he was able to walk or not. When I went for batting, he was not on the field till he went for batting. Later it was discovered that he would bat.”

The Indian all -rounder further said, “Yes, now it has been revealed that his leg has been fractured. Even if he was able to walk, he was in a lot of pain. If Pant is in pain, then the injury is serious. His pain is very high.”

Shardul compared Pant to former South African captain Grem Smith, who once batted with a fracture hand. “The player’s courage is seen on such occasions. And Pant today showed what he can do for the team.”
