Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is now at its last stop and the final match will be played on June 3. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has already reached the finals. At the same time, Qualifier-2 is being played on 1 June between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (Mi). The winner of this match will face RCB in the final.

If Punjab Kings reaches the final, then in IPL 2025, a new team will win the title for the first time. Both RCB and Punjab are participating from the start of the IPL, but have failed to win the title so far.

Meanwhile, veteran IPL player Shikhar Dhawan expressed his opinion in this season and told which team he wants to see the champion.

Dhawan is with Mi

In an interview to India Today, Shikhar Dhawan said, “This time IPL has been very exciting. My full support for the final is with Mumbai Indians. Mumbai’s team is playing the best. His team is very balanced. The way they have caught the rhythm in this season, it is fantastic. So I am with Mumbai Indians.”

Significantly, Shikhar Dhawan has played for both teams in IPL. He was part of Mumbai Indians in 2009 and 2010. After this, Punjab Kings joined the 2022 mega auction and were part of the team for three seasons. He also captained Punjab Kings in 2023 and 2024 seasons, but could not reach the team to the playoffs. In August 2024, he retired from Indian cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan’s cricket career

Shikhar Dhawan scored 6769 runs in 222 matches in his IPL career. His IPL career started with Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils). He then played for Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and then Punjab Kings. His biggest IPL title came with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016.

For the Indian team, Dhawan performed brilliantly in all three formats. He played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20 matches. In 2022, he last played for the Indian team.
