Shikhar’s love for cricket started at the age of 12. He appeared in the Vijay Merchant Trophy in 1999-2001 while playing for Delhi Under-16 and impressed everyone with his performance there. After this he also performed brilliantly in Under-19 cricket. In 2010, he made his debut in international cricket, although he was out for a duck in the first ODI match. In the year 2012, he got a chance to make his T20 debut, but even there he could score only 5 runs. After this, he was also dropped from the team.

In the year 2013, Shikhar Dhawan performed brilliantly in domestic and there was a big turn in his career. He scored 1162 runs in 26 ODI matches that year, which included 363 runs in 5 Champions Trophy matches. India also won the ICC Champions Trophy in the same year, and from then onwards Shikhar Dhawan’s career completely blossomed.
