Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming said that MS Dhoni is batting at the lower order in this IPL season due to his physical condition. He told the post match press conference,

“Yes, it’s a matter of time. MS assess it. Their body is not the same as before. And he is running properly, but there is still a shortage. He cannot bat for 10 overs with the entire stick. So he will assess what he can give to us. If the game is in balance as today, he will go a little before, and when other opportunities will come, he will support other players.

The CSK coach also stated that the team also gives Dhoni priority to bat from the 13th or 14th over according to the match status.

“I also said last year that he is very valuable for us-leadership and wicketkeeping-it is not appropriate to feed him in nine, ten overs. He has never done this. So, see, from about 13-14 overs, he depends on who is playing.”
